Apple hasn't dipped its toe in the ruggedized computer business, has it? That's bound to be one aspect of army interest.
But perhaps computing devices that survive going to school with students should already be considered ruggedized.

Target and Walmart sound like they are run by bratty jealous kids. Besides, I can't see how movie downloads are going to threaten DVD sales anyway. HBO didn't stop VHS sales. Netflix hasn't stopped DVD sales. Cable on Demand hasn't stopped DVD sales either. People want to buy things. They want to own them. They want something to hold in their hand with pictures and a booklet. Sure people will download TV shows or some movies to watch on their iPods on a commute, but it's not going to kill the DVD market. The only thing likely to kill the DVD market is this bogus format war going on between Sony and Toshiba. Now noone is going to want to buy any HD format because they dont want their purchase to be obsolete next year.
On another note, how is this kind of corporate bullying legal? Doesn't the government actually try to enforce any antitrust laws any more? (rhetoric question)

My Late-2009 Mac Pro runs it on Ultra settings with no lag or stuttering. I don't know the frame rate, but it looks like it's at least 50fps to me. Very smooth, even during very large battles.
Your i7 iMac should be fine.
wonderful! great thanks heaps for that!!
i hope it goes ok at 2560x1440 though haha ;)
can anybody report the type of CPU usage that you are seeing? is it quad core compliant?

Yes, I am doing the same. My simple "Hello World" is Intel only. Yes, I am going to click on the check box for Intel just to piss off the G5 loving Mac owners. ha ha ha.

What I'm curious about is why blindly (for a lot of people) support a very successful band, wouldn't this have been a really nice little story if people rallied to buy a track from a smaller/upcoming band? Or maybe a real charity single or for something more deserving, like them soldier blokes or whoever.
Good points, but I think you're knit-picking. A smaller and more unknown song from a smaller and more unknown band wouldn't have had the same impact. Nearly everyone has heard of RATM, and I think that's what essentially sold it. The song, band and cause, all being about rebellion.
We've tried what you said before with something called Band Aid. The first time it was rather good and useful. The second time it sucked. The Americans also tried it and it sucked as well.
I think giving money to shelter is a very good thing to do. I'd certainly hate to be spending xmas alone on the streets, especially in this weather. Soldiers have a job, and it is their choice they wanted to join the army. By all means, they should get all the help needed, but I believe helping the homeless is much more kinder. Please don't shoot me down for that, I fully respect the troops fighting for us abroad, but it was their choice to do that, where as, being homeless, isn't.

Does push-mail actually work this time? In SLS it is supported, but not with an iPhone. iPhone push thus far only works with Exchange, Google or MobileMe.
Thanks!

Push works AWESOME on Kerio Connect 7 to the iPhone, 6 worked great also. It uses an outlook connector for it's black magic. Email are generally pushed to and appear on my iPhone within a second of hitting the server.
Thanks!

simple fix - turn off Time Zone Support. TZS, which is on by default, sets the time zone that your calendar displays everything in. but there is an error. the good thing is that you can turn it off, which makes all of your appointments come up in LOCAL time, which is really what you want, right?
but first, write down the times of any appointments that you made from your iphone. those times may change when you turn time zone support off. and if the only place where you put it was in your iphone, you may not know what the real appointment time was.

I like it. Will no doubt trade in my existing 360 for one as soon as they are released here. Need more space than 120gb anyway :)
Did they change/refine the controller?
So that's 1 piece of hardware from E3 on my list. Bring it on Sony & Nintendo. Oh and whilst I like the look of kinetic / natal, the line up of launch titles reads like every mediocre wii game we all run 500 miles away from.

Just downloaded the update and got Outlook to sync calendars with me iPhone :D I really have missed the ability to do that these past few weeks so I'm happy again.
I'd really like 'Travel Time' adding back into Outlook appointments as I can't see why it was removed. I found that I used that quite a bit in Entourage '08.

I'm with Rogers in Canada and my iPhone 3G Date & Time had "Set Automatically" to ON. I had to change "Set Automatically" to OFF before the time corrected itself. My Time Zone is set to Toronto.
My Mac changed correctly (Leopard 10.5.8) and the Set Date & Time automatically checkbox was ticked.
I'd say Apple have a problem with iOS 4.2.1 as well. Governments around the world should stop dicking around with Daylight Savings. That would solve the problem.

So if I understand you want to use her Netstick to provide data for your I4. I think that's what you mean. If so I ask the Netstick provider or on a forum of Netstick users.

I got in line at Knox at roughly 5am. At 7:30 an apple employee came out to hand out tickets. He got 15 people down the line and then said he was out. I was about 20-30th in line. Sounds like we all got fed a line of BS when we were told they held all shipments from this week for Sat. morning.

Except they're not trying to stop anybody "using" those names.
The letter is opposing a company trade marking not simply using
1. a generic term .... "podcast ready"...... should everyone who uses this term in future pay a royalty or get a c and d letter from Infostructure Systems Inc?
2. stop the trade marking of a product deliberately named to cause confusion with someoner else's product.......if Apple didn't oppose this, and the trademark was granted they'd be equally likely to be sued for infringement should they use phrases like "ipodder" or "my ipod" in any product they marketed as they infringe a registered trademark!
Maybe you should try to trademark the name of an Music Player that comes in grey, brown or blue called an eye-pod or one that plays brass band music from Yorkshire - an Aye-Pod :D
