Hi all, I recently rebooted and have noticed a small blue "bubble" on my screen. It is transparent and turns opaque when you mouse over it. If you click on it, it activates the function usually assigned to the F10 key for Expose. I can move it around the screen like something from Konfabulator. I do have both Konfabulator and Growl installed, but they are both off right now.. and this thing still won't go away. Any help?

Its a bit pricy but a friend of mine who can't seem to part with his old iBook G4 bought this:
http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/SSDMXLE040/
Compatible with the whole range of G3 and G4 Macs and its a sandforce based SSD so its going to perform better then those cheap SSD/Compact Flash upgrades we see online. The drive is still on its way but I'm very excited and curious on how better this will make his iBook perform.

Have you tried a PRAM and/or SMC reset already?
PRAM/NVRAM has nothing to do with the OP's issue.
Mac OS X: What's stored in PRAM (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1242)
When to reset NVRAM or PRAM (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1895)
SMC might help with some fan, unexpected power-offs or slow performance issues, but not heat-related shutdowns, as the OP described.
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964)

A friend of mine was in a similar situation. He ended up getting a base 15" MBP and got the optibay. He's a professional photographer and said he needed the space (both hd and screen). He loves his setup.
They did have the hi-res antiglare in stock, but not all stores do
Personally though- if you're just using aperture and final cut express a bit, and don't mind an external- I'd say wait for the 13" MBA to get updated.
They're amazing, especially if you're gonna be traveling a lot.

history will look back and focus on the day Apple got into bed with Intel as being the turning point for Apple computer sales. market share has been steadily on the rise since then.
The funny thing is that I'm one of those people that was convinced that once Apple was able to run Windows XP, I could buy a Mac. So, I bought one, loaded WinXP thru Bootcamp and the only time I use it is for my taxes.
I thought I'd need office, but it wasn't long before I just bought a copy of OfficeMac 2004 and I've never looked back. I haven't booted into XP since last Oct 15th. Go figger.
It's funny how that works. It's a safety net... you won't do something till you have it, but it turns out you don't really need it.

Every month at work, we purchase a new PC to upgrade general office computers. Right now, the typical boxes we are getting are 3.2GHz P4 boxes with 1GB of memory. The IT guy and I are debating the wisdom/stupidity of installing Folding on them, and switching back and forth every month between user names. We got the okay from the boss to Fold on a few specific boxes, so we probably won't do this...but it's fun to plot and plan anyway.:p

To the uninformed consumer, which is the majority of big chain business, bundles represent the best value.
But there should be an option to buy system only...

Since used CD that are in ok condition usually still perform just as good as the day they were bought, are there any places that distribute previously owned albums?
I did a google search and found quite a few sites, but I don't know about how legit they are.
Help would be awesome!

I've heard that ruby on wheels is a really good editor - it will allow you to do allsorts, but you need to be pretty handy with code side of designing... if not, just take a bit of time to look into it...

Apple today released Logic Pro 9.1.3 (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1014) and Logic Express 9.1.3 (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1015) to address an issue with Hyper-Threading.This update delivers improved general stability and compatibility.
Issues addressed with 9.1.3 include:
- Resolves problems related to the support of Hyper-ThreadingUnder Logic 9.1.3's audio preferences, users can specify the number of audio rendering threads the software will open at any one time. While the option is set to "automatic" by default and the maximum number of available threads is determined by the number of processor cores and support for Hyper-Threading on the user's computer, the setting allows users to manually adjust the number of threads to best fit their workflow.
The updates weigh in at 193.01 MB (Logic Pro 9.1.3) and 139.68 (Logic Express 9.1.3) and require Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later.

You have two solutions...max out the ram or buy a new computer. That's it.
