ri0ku, you're a smart guy and I strongly think that people regard you highly in life.
Yea now would be a good time to stop your flaming. Get a life. A girlfriend might help too. You have two weeks to use your iPad to attract women.

Bill Gates! Maybe you guys are too young to remember that. I thought it was the end of Apple, or at least the end of the Apple I knew and loved.
Whew, glad it turned out ok.

Hey guys, so long story short I found out that my parent's property insurance doesn't cover my dslr gear and computing gear. Where would you recommend me go to get insurance for all my gear for myself? I'm looking around for hassle-free options now. Preferably online.
Thanks,
John

No problem with Snow Leopard here.
What software crashes.
Except I've had the same results on all the machines I've had that ran Snow Leopard.
MacBook Pro 2.33ghz Late 2006
MacBook Pro 13 2.26
Mac Mini 2.26
Mac Mini 2.4
MacBook Pro 2.66
It's been equally problematic on all of them.
Seems to be user problem. You probably have one piece of software that's causing the problem.

Same here! I was using an app that provided me 20% on a merchandise and the sales asked me how I got it on my "iPhone.":D
what was the app? sounds interesting.

Keynote and Pages are really coming along nicely, especially Pages IMO. Nice to see these updates, especially to acknowledge the recent Aperture update. Other features/updates would have been nice as well, but not a big deal...

No. It's not related to any dislike between Apple and Oracle. I believe it was timed purposely to keep Java applications out of the new Mac App Store.
Don't forget the IcedTea project. This is related to OpenJDK, and already has a working Mac implementation.
My take on the announcement is that Apple is ensuring that OSX will be more open to installation of such software and not requiring Apple's developers to reimplement versions of Java as they come out. I suspect Apple wants to use their development staff for Apple-specific software.
I don't think the Mac App Store has any relevance to the discussion.
Oracle's announcements at the JavaOne 2010 meeting seems to promise bringing Java as a platform back from the dead -- something Sun was having problems doing. The Oracle promise of rapid progress of the Java platform would make it difficult/expensive for Apple to keep up and still be a viable platform for Java development.
I think Jobs' announcement is a positive sign.

Maybe you left something, like food, inside, and it is burning because of the heat. I've heard of horror stories at schools that use iBooks, where kids have papers and food instead of AirPort cards-scary. Have you left food in the AirPort slot?

Yep. When I'm running a Winterboard theme, I'll get banner adds at the top, behind the icons, on my springboard after closing certain apps.
I can reproduce 100% of the time with an app called 'Speedometer FREE' from the Apple app store. Quick respring cures it.
iP4, 4.3.2, redsn0w.

Think summer, late summer perhaps, according to Nikon rumor sites. It ought to be really good, really expensive. Look at the price of new FF-capable lenses.
I'll bet it is a big step up from what is out there now. It really has to be because the new DX cameras are very capable and today's FF cameras only offer improvements over them in limited situations.
I'm waiting for a really good EVIL cameral myself.

Fairly annoying really. In all my years visiting rumour sites, I've never got my hopes up about something only to learn that it was a fabrication by a singular person in the industry
I guess it should be called Machumors then

Hi folks,
Longtime reader, first time posting anything.
Can anyone offer a critique of this?
It's going to be printed on a 4'x8' vinyl banner to be displayed outdoors. I'm not a designer and I've looked at this thing for so long that I can't even tell what works and what doesn't. It'd be nice to get a fresh pair of eyes on it.
I'm sending this to the print shop to silkscreen several hundred of these, so any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all.

They already do look alike. Honestly, most average people won't know the difference. I've already had people ask me if my new touch is an iPhone.

Oh, lookie, a place to vent about Adobe...
I have been using Photoshop since 2.0 and CS was by far the most disappointing upgrade so far... the added features are very minor and they broke a few things... the type tool is less useful than it was in 7.0 - that irritating underline can't be hidden, so text below 9 points is impossible to read while typing... you can't drag downwards to select the entire line of text, so if the text runs off the screen, there is no way to select all the text in the line. The other thing that changed for the worse - the transform functionality was totally botched - maybe the handles are more sensitive? I find myself moving rather than scaling all too often - and skew text rather than moving it.
Come on, is moving really transforming? Who uses the transform command to move something? And what serious designer skews text?
I'm also bitter that they dropped LiveMotion... I bought Flash MX but the interface is so awful I still find myself using LiveMotion to create projects that have to be completed on a tight deadline...

Have you checked your MIME types on your server? I had the same issue w/ a clients server. It would just display the text URL.

Regarding MAMP:
If I install in on a Mac which is on a LAN, can other computers on the same network access it or the sites it's hosting?
Can anyone confirm that people can't access it via the web as well? (Just want to be sure that I don't get it messed up or visible before I want it to go live.)
Thanks,
